Banker Man attacks on Capitol Hill!
By Consumers Union on Wednesday, April 28th, 2010
Is your bank taking a big bite out of your wallet with interest rate hikes, hidden fees, and other unfair practices? You’re not alone. That’s why we launched our “Banker Man” stunt today in Washington.
We’ve heard from plenty of folks who’ve had enough of greedy big banks and all the gluttony on Wall Street. To drive that point home, we organized “Banker Man,” a humorous stunt on Capitol Hill today to dramatize the banks’ insatiable appetite for your hard earned money. Consumers Union advocates are on the scene to deliver the message that we need financial reform to stop the banks from feasting on consumers.
We’re pushing hard to make sure that Congress passes legislation to create a strong, independent watchdog to protect consumers from financial industry rip offs and new rules to ensure taxpayers won’t be forced to rescue banks and Wall Street firms that engage in reckless investments.
Weak government oversight allowed the banks and Wall Street firms to push the nation to the brink of financial disaster. That’s no laughing matter. But we’re hoping that today’s “Banker Man” stunt will help focus attention on why reform is so urgently needed.
Check out the “Banker Man” video and pass it along to your friends to help spread the word. And don’t forget to urge Congress to support strong financial reform by taking action at www.DefendYourDollars.org
