Board to Discuss Strategic Vision & Design Options for Creating Competitive Insurance Marketplace for Consumers
The Board of the California Health Benefits Exchange will hold its September meeting to further move California down the road to health reform implementation. The Board is creating an “Exchange” which is a new competitive marketplace that will vastly expand access to millions of California health insurance consumers starting in 2014. They will discuss adoption of a strategic vision and design options for consumer friendly assistance and enrollment.
Over the next two years, the Board will debate the steps needed to provide income based subsidies for Californians up to 400% of the federal poverty level, as well as how best to create easy to compare insurance options, consumer friendly enrollment and ways to give small businesses and individuals increased bargaining power similar to large companies.
Exchange Board meetings are open to the public. There are opportunities for public comment on which direction the Board should take as it seeks to transform California’s health insurance marketplace. The meetings are also broadcast on the web. For meeting an agenda, meeting materials and other information, visit www.healthexchange.ca.gov.
The meeting is taking place tomorrow, Sept 27th in Sacremento at 722 Capitol Mall from 12:30 to 4:30 pm. You can also watch the meeting live over the web at http://mfile.akamai.com/31949/live/reflector.54377.asx?
