Chris Meyer is the Vice President for Advocacy, responsible for overseeing Advocacy and Public Policy (through Consumers Union, the policy and advocacy arm of Consumer Reports) and Health Impact, which includes the Health Ratings Center and Health Partnerships. Chris manages teams in Washington D.C., Austin, and San Francisco, in addition to staff in the Yonkers, N.Y., headquarters. Chris serves on the Executive Leadership Team.

Advocacy works in close collaboration with other departments to deliver meaningful results for consumers in health care; financial regulation; food, product and auto safety; telecommunications; and environmental sustainability issues. Chris and his team have built an e-activist community of more than 1 million consumers who have joined a diverse campaign portfolio, including persuading retailers to sell only antibiotic-free meat and poultry; preserving an Open Internet by fighting the proposed Comcast-Time Warner Cable merger; and convincing manufacturers of hip and knee replacements to offer a meaningful warranty.

Chris has worked for Consumer Reports since 2004. Before that, he served as executive director of the New York Public Interest Research Group (NYPIRG), New York State’s leading consumer, environmental and government reform group (1997-2004).

Chris is a graduate of Haverford College and the New York University School of Law.
