Dena Mendelsohn, JD, MPH, is a Health Policy Analyst at the West Coast Office of Consumers Union, the advocacy and policy division of Consumer Reports. Ms. Mendelsohn is an attorney, policy researcher, and advocate with experience working within government and from non-profits. Her work at Consumers Union focuses on implementation of health care reform, particularly in California. She seeks to engage health care consumers and activists throughout the state, and nationwide, on issues related to health insurance premium rate review, health information technology (HIT) and patient safety, and health care price and quality transparency, with an eye towards increasing access to high quality, affordable, health care. Her previous professional roles were as a health policy analyst at the Pacific Business Group on Health, where she specialized in health care cost and quality measurement, and as a budget and planning analyst for the state of Missouri. Prior to that, she practiced law as a private attorney.
