Consumers scored a big victory when the FCC approved historic rules to ensure we have an open Internet. But this fight over net neutrality is not over yet. Telecommunications companies have filed lawsuits in federal court to try to overturn the rules. Consumers Union has asked the court to reject the companies’ arguments and support the rules. You can read our legal brief here. For years, Consumers Union has fought for net neutrality, because we strongly believe your Internet service provider should let you access the web sites and apps you choose on an equal basis. ISPs shouldn’t play favorites among the sites you see, charging some sites for special treatment, while other sites are saddled with slower speeds and second-class status. The FCC did the right thing, it had the authority to do it, and we will keep fighting to defend it.
