The Obama Administration is using social networking websites such as Facebook and Twitter to promote a webpage called Health Insurance Reform: Reality Check that aims to debunk some of the myths and rumors swirling around the healthcare debate.

Instead of worrying about whether government will ration healthcare when reform passes, Mike Madden writes that private insurance companies are already limiting care for dubious reasons. “Meanwhile, a House Energy and Commerce Committee report in June found that just three insurance companies kicked at least 20,000 people off their rolls between 2003 and 2007 for such reasons as typos on their application paperwork, a preexisting condition or a family member’s medical history.”

This week Obama is traveling across the country to promote healthcare reform to people who already have insurance. He will be speaking on Tuesday in New Hampshire, Friday in Montana, and on Saturday he will appear in Colorado.
