This month’s issue of Consumer Reports features an article about how consumers can take advantage of electronic medical records and patient portals to improve their quality of care.

Now, we want to hear from you about your experience.

Starting this year, doctors and some other healthcare providers will receive financial incentives from the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services for providing patients with the opportunity to access their medical records and communicate with doctors online.

Your healthcare provider’s patient portal should be easy to use, helpful, and secure – so you’re in control of your health.

We want to know about your experience using your healthcare provider’s patient portal or other electronic services – accessing your medical records and test results, contacting your doctor, or scheduling appointments.

Has your doctor or clinic contacted you to encourage using electronic communication or records? Has the ability to access your medical information or contact your doctor online improved your overall healthcare experience?

Have you been able to communicate better with your doctor by contacting him or her through e-mail or a website? Do you feel comfortable with the privacy and security of your medical records?
