The free and open nature of the internet — what we call net neutrality — is currently under threat.

Net neutrality means no one has to pay an internet service provider (ISP) to launch a website that everyone can see. It means start-ups and amateur bloggers get the same access to the web as billion-dollar companies and news organizations. And it ensures consumers can choose what they want to watch, read, or play online without restrictions or slowdowns from ISPs.

But the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and certain members of Congress are trying to undo net neutrality. If they succeed, your service provider could block or slow down some websites and services and give special treatment to others. That would limit your choices, hurt competition, cost you more money — and, in short, destroy the web as we know it!

Please join Consumers Union in telling the FCC and Congress to protect strong net neutrality rules today.
